Alliant led the preliminary and final design for the safety improvements at the intersection of Highway 61 and CSAH 18. Treasure Island Resort & Casino and Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, both large employers in the region are located near the intersection. This intersection has an historically high crash rate with a large percentage of crashes being right-angle.
Alliant coordinated the preliminary design with both MnDOT District 6 and MnDOT’s Geometric Design Support Unit (GDSU) with final construction plans and cost estimate following the next year. The resulting RCUT provides enhanced safety with optimal sight distances and limited points of conflict.
