Hodgson Road Reconstruction

The Hodgson Road Reconstruction project enhances pedestrian and bike access for the community. As the stormwater management designer for the project, Alliant successfully addressed the challenges resulting from increased runoff in the area.

The initial plan involved constructing a pond at the existing low point of the corridor that received stormwater runoff from the City’s storm sewer. However, this location was in the backyard of a church, and preserving the existing multi-purpose field for children to play on was a priority. Through close collaboration between Ramsey County, the City, and the landowner, our design team developed an economical solution.

The design provides sufficient storage to control flooding and also leverages the infiltration capabilities of the existing soils. Importantly, the field remains a vital recreation area for the community, preserving its use, thanks in part to the innovative implementation of 489 StormTrap chambers.
